D ay 1: Departure to Africa

Today the journey begins with the long-haul flight to South Africa.

Day 2: Welcome to South Africa

It’s time to get excited, as today you arrive at O.R. Tambo International airport in Johannesburg. Here you conveniently collect your rental car and start your five-hour drive to the Mpumulanga Province of South Africa. This drive will lead you to your beautiful lodge in the Kwa Madwala Game reserve (meaning ‘place of rocks’), located in the famous Kruger National Park.  The 4,000-acre Kwa Madwala private wildlife sanctuary is home to a large amount of wildlife. Once you have checked in, the rest of the afternoon can be spent relaxing before enjoying a sundowner overlooking the African bush. Tonight you can enjoy a welcome dinner in the lodge’s own restaurant. As soon as tonight you will be falling asleep to the sounds of Africa. 408 Km / D

Day 3: A safari trip to the Private Balule Nature Reserve 

After a scrumptious breakfast, you head North via the Kruger National Park to your next lodge. The drive to your next lodge offers amazing scenes of African wildlife in the Kruger National Park. The park covers an area of approximately 20 000 square kilometres, which is about the size of Belgium. With luck, you will be able to spot the “Big Five” in the comfort of your own car. By this afternoon you will reach the beautiful Balule Nature Reserve. For the next two nights you will be staying in a beautiful lodge situated in the Balule Nature Reserve. The lodge is fantastically located with beautiful views and is a paradise for bush lovers, surrounded by fever acacias and evergreen date palms. A delicious dinner will be served in the lodge’s own restaurant. 297 km / B, D

Day 4: A day in the Balule nature reserve

Get ready to explore the wildlife masses of Balule. The 38,000 hectare reserve forms part of the larger Kruger National Park Biosphere. The Olifants River flows throughout the year through the Balule Nature Reserve and is home to many hippos and crocodiles. The lodge offers two fantastic game drives, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The game drive is in an open 4X4 vehicle, with an experienced English-speaking ranger. Get your cameras ready to gets snaps of lions, rhinos, elephants, leopard and antelopes. 0 km / SC, B, D

Day 5 : The beautiful panoramic route

Today your trip continues along the Panorama Route, one of South Africa's most scenic routes, where you can visit Blyde River Canyon, God's Window and Bourke's Luck Potholes. The Blyde River Canyon is the third largest canyon in the world and the view is dominated by the Three Rondavels: large, freestanding rocks at the bottom of the canyon. The Bourke's Luck Potholes are impressive rock formations formed millions of years ago by erosion. After these scenic highlights, in the afternoon you will reach your comfortable hotel, where you will be staying for the night. 270 km / 

Day 6: Back to Johannesburg and on a flight to the garden route

After a scrumptious breakfast, you make your way to Johannesburg in a Westerly direction. In the early evening you will arrive at Johannesburg Airport, where you will conveniently drop off your rental car and catch a flight to Port Elizabeth. Once you have landed in the windy city of Port Elizabeth, you collect your next rental car and take a short drive to your beautiful hotel. Your hotel for the night is situated on the beach promenade, offering beautiful views. 395 km / B 

Day 7:  the last jungle of the garden route

This morning you continue your journey into South Africa’s paradise, the Garden Route. Today's destination is the Tsitsikamma National Park, situated at the mouth of the Storms River. The park also has a maritime protection zone that extends more than 5 km into the open ocean. The park covers an area of ​​approximately 70,000 hectares. It is said that the mystical atmosphere of the dense jungle inspired South African born writer J.R.R Tolkien to write his masterpiece “The Lord of the Rings”. Short, adventurous walks are offered in this area, where you will get to pass suspense bridges over rumbling waters passing into the Indian Ocean from the Storms River. Tonight, you spend the night in a hotel situated at the edge of the park . 182 km / B

Day 8: Von portugiesischen Seefahrern und der “Bahia Famosa“

This morning, you can visit the Robberg Marine and Nature Reserve on a trip to the coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. You have the option to take a highly-rewarding, four hour walk along a high cliff, amongst native fynbos vegetation, around the spectacular peninsula (the walk can be individually shortened). The bay, which the Portuguese sailors called “Bahia Famosa”, provides you with a stunning view whilst walking. Your destination for this day is the beautifully located coastal town of Knysna. Knysna is famous for its beautiful lagoon. Once you have arrived in Knysna, you have the opportunity to have a true cultural experience by going on a township tour (not included in the trio price- with advance booking only). For the next two nights, you stay in a beautiful, centrally located lodge in Knysna. 104 km / B

Day 9: Feather Barons and old stalagmites

It is time to say goodbye to the Indian Ocean as the tour leads you up the 800 meter high Outeniqua Pass. This pass takes you to the so-called Little Karoo, where you will find the ostrich capital of South Africa, Oudtshoorn. In Oudtshoorn you have the opportunity to visit one of the popular ostrich farms. On this outing you can have first-hand contact with the ostriches and also learn about their value to this region. Afterwards, you can visit one of the seven wonders of South Africa, the world famous Cango Caves. Tonight you can stay in a lovely country estate, situated at the foot of the Swartberg mountains. 117 km / B

Day 10: to the world famous cape wine lands via route 62

You drive along the famous Route 62, where you will find the land of succulents, the Little Karoo towns of Calitzdorp and Ladismith. Ladismith is known for its locally produced cheese. The scenic Huisrivier Pass takes you to the small, arty town of Barrydale, as you slowly approach the Cape wine region. You will reach the Du Toits Kloof Pass, which was initially an animal. On a clear day you can see Table Mountain clearly from the pass. The Du Toits Kloof Pass takes you to the city of Paarl. At the foot of Paarl Rock, you will find a beautiful wine producing farm, where you will be staying for the next two nights. 367Km / B

Day 11: a day in the wine lands areas along cape town

Today, you can drive through South Africa's unique vineyards and start an on-farm wine cellar tour that will introduce you to local production and manufacturing practices. Afterwards, you can visit other excellent wineries with good wines and breathtaking landscapes. We are happy to give you tips. You can also visit the old Huguenot immigrant town of Franschhoek and the famous university town of Stellenbosch before returning to your beautiful wine farm on Paarl Rock. B

Day 12: The most beautiful metropolis in the world - Cape Town

Today you arrive in the world-famous, vibrant city of Cape Town . This day is at your leisure. This afternoon you reach your comfortable and centrally located guest house, where you will stay for the next three nights. 132 km / B

Day 13+14: The highlights of the metropolis Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula

These days are at your leisure. You can use them to discover Cape Town. On a city tour you will see, among other things, the Company’s Garden, an African flea market, the Parliament, City Hall, Cape Castle and the Slave Lodge. At lunchtime, you can drive a short distance to the Blouberg beach, where you will find the best view of Table Mountain. Get your camera ready, because some amazing photos can be taken here. You can then make your way to the colourful Malay Quarters in the “Bo Kaap” (the Cape Top), here you can take fun pictures in-between all the colourful buildings. The Malay Quarters will give you insight on the lives of former slaves and today’s “coloureds” in Cape Town. On the following day you can take a A drive over probably the most spectacular mountain pass of the Western Cape, the Chapmans Peak Drive (possibly closed in bad weather conditions), takes you to the most south-westerly point of Africa, the Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point. Along False Bay, in the early afternoon you pass the old South African naval base ,Simon’s Town, where you can visit the large colony of resident penguins. Shortly before Cape Town, we recommend a stop at the World Heritage, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, which offers a green-haven of over 500 hectares of local vegetation. B

Day 15: Until next time!

Why not end your trip on a high note (literally and figuratively) and take a trip to the 1,085 meter high Table Mountain, from where you can enjoy the spectacular view of Cape Town (extremely weather dependent, optional program point and tickets can be purchased at the cash-desk at an affordable price). As your trip comes to an end, you can make your way to the Cape Town International Airport. Here you can conveniently return your rental car. Do you want to extend your trip? Not a problem!
